What is Claimaphrase?
Claimaphrase is a public board where you pay to hold a phrase. You claim any phrase nobody currently holds, and it is listed as yours, with your name if you give one. It is a novelty, not an investment. Nothing you buy here is property, a security, or a trademark, and it is operated by Moblize.it LLC.
How much does it cost to claim a phrase?
The minimum is $1. Dollars are days, one for one: $1 holds a phrase for 1 day, and $28 holds it for 28 days. You choose how much to pay, and that choice is the length of the hold.
How long do I keep the phrase?
For as many days as you paid dollars, and then indefinitely after that. While the hold runs, nobody can take the phrase at any price. Once it lapses the phrase stays yours until somebody else pays more than you did, which may be tomorrow or may be never.
Can someone take my phrase from me?
Yes, once your hold has lapsed. Anyone can take it by paying at least $1 more than you paid. They cannot do it while the hold is still running, no matter how much they offer.
Do I get my money back when someone takes it?
No. The previous holder receives nothing. There are no refunds and no takebacks, and that is the whole game rather than a catch: what you bought was the days, and you had them.
Is there a limit on how expensive a phrase can get?
One claim can raise a phrase's price by at most $3,700 over what it already costs, which is 3,700 days of holding. There is no ceiling on the price itself, only on how far a single claim can move it, so the game never jumps to a number nobody can reach.
Does any of the money go to charity?
Claim a phrase for $5 or more and name a nonprofit, and 40% of what you pay goes to it. You pick the nonprofit when you claim. Claims under $5 do not carry a donation, because at the $1 floor the donation would be larger than what the sale nets after card fees.
When is the donation actually sent?
We donate 120 days after a claim, once the window for a card dispute has closed. The page at /giving lists every nonprofit that has been named and what has been donated or pledged to each, and says when it last updated.
Who takes the payment, and what shows on my card statement?
Moblize.it LLC operates Claimaphrase and takes the payment. Card statements read MOBLIZE.IT* CLAIMAPHRA, so the charge names the operating company rather than the site. Payments run through Stripe and the card details never reach Claimaphrase.
How do I get a phrase taken down?
Write to support@claimaphrase.com. Phrases that target a private person, or that are unlawful, are removed. Removal of a phrase somebody paid for is the one case where money is returned, because the thing that was bought no longer exists.
